Wilma Desktop Window

Above is the tool bar that appears at the top of the Wilma desktop display on a Macintosh computer. The format will be different on Windows or Linux, but the elements still work the same. Starting from the left:

Index Selector Quickly select the current index from this drop down menu that lists all of your indexes.
Quick Find Enter the words or search phrase you wish to select files with. This is identical to the "Contains" field of the search dialog. If additional constraints have been selected in the search dialog, text in the quick find field will appear red as a warning.
Search Dialog The downward facing triangle to the right of the quick find field will bring up the search dialog when it is clicked. This will allow you to refine your search by limiting files to specific file names, folder paths, sizes, etc. It also allows you to choose to use regular expressions and referrals to other indexes.

Control F (Command F on the Mac) on the keyboard can be used as a shortcut.

Expand/Compress Toggle the display of output in the contents pane between showing all the text in the selected file (a minus will appear in the button) or just showing the lines that have words matching the search phrase (a plus sign will appear in the button).

The plus or minus keyboard keys can be used as shortcuts

Font This will some day bring up a dialog allowing you to control the fonts used for displaying the file list and the file contents, but is currently just a placeholder.
Previous Match Move to the previous search match in the contents pane. (left facing triangle).

The keyboard left arrow can be used as a shortcut

Next Match Move to the next search match in the contents pane. (right facing triangle).

The keyboard right arrow can be used as a shortcut

Previous File Move to the previous file in the file results pane. (upwards facing triangle).

The keyboard up arrow can be used as a shortcut

Next File Move to the next file in the file results pane. (downwards facing triangle).

The keyboard down arrow can be used as a shortcut

Index Properties Open the Index Properties dialog, where you can set what files are to be included in the index as well as many other options.
Build Build the current index. (hammer icon).

Control B (Command B on the Mac) on the keyboard can be used as a shortcut.

Update Update the current index to reflect changes in files since the last build or update.

Control U (Command U on the Mac) on the keyboard can be used as a shortcut.

Stop Used to halt the a search operation that is taking too long due to proximity searches. The halt is not immediate though.
