RedTree Development Inc. is not your typical company.
For
one thing we do our development and maintain our web presence from a
house on a ski hill in the Canadian
Rockies. This isn't exactly Silicon Valley and we sure aren't a large
software company, but then we don't pretend to be.
RedTree essentially consists of my wife (Chris
Muir) and myself (Craig Morris).
Chris handles the administrative chores while I serve as chief programmer,
webmaster and general chief nerd. Of course we do everything over the
net.
Although we are small, we are financially secure due to our past association
with a successful software venture.
This not only gives us an appreciation for the importance of ensuring
that our software is of high quality, but it allows us the luxury of
somewhat different goals than many small software
companies. Indeed RedTree no longer derives any income directly from commercial
software.
RedTree now makes Wilbur
and Wilma
available as open source software and was actively involved
with the start up of the
Sim 42 open source simulator project,
both as a contributor of code and by providing hosting services. While RedTree
derives no income from these activities and is no longer involved with Sim42
now, it is an investor in the
Virtual Materials Group which was a
major sponsor of Sim42.
