Craig's Report - January 29, 1997 - 6:00 PM

It snowed lightly all day and by 2:00 P.M., when I finally managed to get out for some runs, a few centimeters of new had accumulated. The conditions were generally very nice and quite soft, although the snow was a little dense particularly where the wind had done it's work. At least when I was out, the visibility in the upper bowls was quite poor, thus giving another reason to stay in the trees. The Face Lift was closed as was the Cedar high traverse, but you could still take the traverse from the top of Bear over to Snake where there was abundant opportunity to cut fresh tracks.

What makes me nervous is that it was about -5 C when I went out, but it is now up to -1C at the house. Even worse my wife reported it was just about freezing with a light rain falling in town around 5:00 P.M. The weather forecast is still calling for lots more snow, but also mentions a risk of freezing rain. Hopefully the hill will stay above all of that and manage reasonably dry snow.
